First event, big pressure, great achievement - the Cambodia-Singapore Leaders Breakfast
I don’t write about my working life, but I felt the need to sieve through the thoughts I had for this event. I had organised the very first event of my working life, the Cambodia-Singapore Leaders Breakfast, that invited the Ministers from Cambodia and C-suite executives from both nations.
About the event
This Wednesday, I had the privilege of organising the Cambodia-Singapore Leaders Breakfast as part of the Corporate Communication team in YCH.
Held at Conrad Centennial, the event was a platform for business leaders to explore collaboration and growth opportunities in Cambodia.
Planning and Preparation
Planning an event with limited information on hand was a challenging task. Nonetheless, it has empowered me to be flexible and dynamic.
Every aspect, from securing a venue to guest coordination and logistics management, required thorough consideration. I also had to liaise between three different parties to finalise all the minute details.
I was fortunate to be working with the friendly Ms Panha and her team, Mr Kim and Mr Dareth, from the Cambodian team to ensure the event flowed smoothly.
The Event Day
Mrs. Cham Nimul, the Minister of Commerce, exuded radiance as soon as she stepped into the room; she shared about Cambodia and the plethora of opportunities offered in her country.
Food was served, speeches were given, and conversations were in way. It had given me great pleasure to see the networking session proceeding successfully amidst the amiable ambience. Afterwards, the event ended with the pivotal segment: the MoU signing between SCALA and PPLC.
The brief break time, however, was perhaps the most memorable part of the event for me. Small baskets of pastries (croissant, danish bread) were given to the support team along with hot coffees in the early morning - the kind hotel staff didn’t forget to extend their hospitality to us.
Personal Reflections
It was definitely a rewarding experience, and I know I wouldn’t be able to achieve any of the success without the support of my team in YCH and our partners, the help from the Conrad staff (thanks Matthew and Dave!), and the patience of the Cambodian delegates. Thank you all!
While there were mishaps, I’m thankful that everything was resolved in time. I have also learned to become even more detail-oriented, and most importantly, to keep calm in the face of pressure.
And perhaps...
Building on the success of this event, I am eager for the opportunity to visit Cambodia and witness these potential collaborations come to fruition. There was certainly a sense of fulfilment as the day came to a close.
First milestone in YCH - achieved!
